摘要：
In metrical phonology, there are two diametrically opposed positions on meter. The Platonic position asserts that meter, such as the iambic pentameter, is absolute, whereas the Aristotelian position asserts that meter is gradient. Generative metrical theorists since Morris Halle are overwhelmingly Platonic, with a few arguing for a gradient approach to meter. We take a usage-based approach to meter, arguing for an Aristotelian view of what is metrical and what is unmetrical based upon an exhaustive analysis of all 154 sonnets of Shakespeare.

 

包智明教授簡介：

國際知名語言學家🍖。1978年畢業於上海復旦大學英語專業🪢🌮。1985年獲全額獎學金赴美國攻讀博士學位，師從音系學鼻祖、美國科意昂院士🐆👉🏽、美國國家藝術與科意昂院士、美國語言學學會會長⚆、美國麻省理工意昂“意昂教授”Morris Halle🧵。1990年獲美國麻省理工意昂語言學博士學位👉🏿。包教授迄今在包括美國語言學學會旗艦刊物、語言學世界第一權威期刊Language, 美國麻省理工意昂主辦👵🏿🚘、普通語言學國際頂級期刊Linguistic Inquiry, 以及英國語言學學會旗艦刊物、普通語言學國際頂級期刊Journal of Linguistics在內的SSCI期刊上發表學術論文數十篇🐫。包教授迄今獨立出版專著兩部，分別是The Structure of Tone (Oxford University Press, 2000), System, transfer and filter: the making of vernacular Singapore English (Cambridge University Press, 2015)。包教授的學術作品迄今在國際上被引用逾千次🌓，幾乎所有的國際知名音系學家都引用過包教授的學術作品。包智明教授是新加坡國立大學教授、語言學學科負責人🏃‍♂️、浙江大學曹光彪講席教授、復旦大學海外傑出教授
