論文簡介🙅🏿‍♂️：Pakistani and Afghan writers in English continue to expose patriarchy’s use of culture and religion as powerful tools to establish its hegemonic control over the bodies, subjectivities and lives of women. The research aims to explore and analyze the struggle and resistance of female figures against patriarchal structures as presented through the selected fiction of Bapsi Sidhwa and Khaled Hosseini. Questions of female objectification, marginalization, socio-religious positioning, and identity are the focus of this research. Therefore, the researcher has concentrated on the creative means of struggle and resistance to the entrenched structures of oppression locating sights of potential hope and emancipation. This research project takes the theoretical framework from postcolonial feminist theory to critically engage with the depiction of the bodies of Pakistani and Afghan women in the fiction of selected writers that are a prominent feminist voice from South and Central Asia. 

    A further underlying motive of my research has been to stress the importance of writing in allowing the female figures a ‘voice’ to aid their struggle against patriarchal structures. Therefore, the works of chosen writers will be critically examined in order to understand their role and importance towards addressing, exploring and devising solutions, through a literary medium, to the issues women face in a patriarchal society.
