Title: A Comparative Study of Graduation System in Constitution of the People's Republic of China and U.S. Federal Constitution

Abstract: Constitutions reveal the attitude of nations under different political systems. A comparative study on different constitution discourse not only helps with the deeper understanding of constitution genre, but also reveals the influence exerted by politics and culture. Based on SFL, this research adopts UAM 2.8 to compare tentatively graduation resources of Constitution of the People's Republic of China and U.S. Federal Constitution. It shows that these two constitutions share common graduation features, but also have their own specific features. Therefore, it is demonstrated statistically that graduation meaning in discourse is restrained by its genre and also influenced by political and cultural factors.
